Research On Model Of Library Social Reading Service Based On Wechat And APP

Social reading comes with the mobile applications (APP), featuring like that, feed reading, bringing readers more Interaction, Community-based reading and UGC. With the popularity of the handheld devices such as smartphone and tablet, as well as the rapid development and universal coverage of mobile Internet, this reading model will become the main way of reading in people’s fragmented time, even a main reading model in some people’s reading life. Thus, libraries are supposed to participating in the social reading trend, and provide a better service, for the sake of bringing enjoyment and freedom to readers’reading activity, what’s more, promoting the serious reading under circumstance of mobile internet. The library social reading service that responding to the trend of social reading is a promoting measure to reading substantially.In this paper, for-reading public wechat and for-reading APP are introduced in brief. And the way that people reading through for-reading public wechat and for-reading APP is the typical social reading. Then the conception, connotation, denotation and the characteristics of the social reading and of the library social reading service are interpreted; the necessity of library providing social reading service is analyzed. On that basis, paper has a investigation to the status of social reading, including the investigation of for-reading public wechat and for-reading APP, as well as the investigation of library wechat and APP service.The process of investigation:20 for-reading public wechats were selected to subscribe, to browse and read, then were analyzed from five aspects:the model of information inquiry and search, the frequency of content update, the form of information presentation, the recommendation, full text reading experience. To the book-type APP, the first step of investigation is classification, then each category is introduced, and their typical examples were presented. Second, typical examples of each category were took for sample to illustrate how the present library wechat and APP service meet the social read demands of readers from these three aspects:the reading experience, the management of text and the degree of the sharing of reading text as well as the sharing tools. And to investigate the library wechat and APP service is for the purpose of having a knowledge of the advantage and disadvantage of them. Thus, these two investigation lay the foundation for construction of library social reading service.Having a comprehensive understanding on "shallow reading" cognitively will benefit for collection development and reader’s reading service problems. That is the cognition premise of construction of library social reading service wich is followed by some principles including the principle of acting according to ability, of collaboration, of characteristic service and of reader-centered. Library social reading service is provided by library public wechat wich however is very different from the present library wechat service in framework of service model and service contents. This thesis puts forward a framework of library social reading service wich is consisted of navigation modules and full text modules. And the function of navigation modules is implemented by wechat, the other one is implemented by APP.The feasibility of implementation of library social reading service includes these three aspects:the popularity and development of wechat and APP are the basis of library social reading service; wechat and for-reading APP are the first choice of the public’s social reading; the present library wecha and APP service are will give some experience for the construction of library social reading service. Finally, in order to received a better result of library social reading service, some measures should be taken, such as the denomination of the library public wechat, diversification of retrieve approach, strengthening the collection development of social reading and the skill of navigation, seeking technical cooperation and help, as well as doing a better propaganda for social reading service.
