Research On Information Management System Of Iron Ore Cargo Import At Operating Ports

As a distribution center with an integrated transport hub, the port plays a pivotalrole in the transportation system. In the era of rapid development, the port also willhave an evolution to the diversification. Modern ports already have provided tocustomers with market information and consulting functions, such as Electronic DataInterchange(EDI) by the establishment of a network of value-added services system,which can be provide services such as order management, supply chain management,real-time supervision and added logistics services. Recently, to keep the portinvincible in the competitions, we must optimize business processes, change thecurrent operations in the form of traditional bulk cargo terminals. Therefore,automation, intelligent control systems will become an important tool for themanagement and optimization of bulk cargo carrier pier restructuring anddevelopment.In this thesis, the freight management information system is studied concerningwith Yuanhang Bulk Cargo Terminal at Tianjin Port. Firstly, the existing businessprocesses of production logistics companies are analyzed, and the construction designproblems of management information system is studied in focusing on freightmanagement research. From the perspective of customers’ demand, combined withmodern logistics information management theory, the company’s freight managementplan from the ship, cargo storage, cargo lift-off are achieved to collect for the entirecost control. In addition, this thesis studies the company’s current managementsituation and problems of logistics and proposes the port information systemarchitecture and basic design from the bulk terminal companies and informationtechnology development needs by combining advanced logistics informationtechnology tools. Finally, the company’s freight processes are further improved byfollowing the information design process and the value of information are assessed toachieve the information system issues. The study in this thesis has some references tothe construction of port terminal information systems and the improvement of themanagement processes.
