Building Information Modeling(BIM) technology is a new technology that leads thebuilding information technology to a higher level. It is not only widely used in thebuilding industry, but also brings huge benefits for the development of the buildingindustry. Since2004, some companies began to explore BIM technology, and theyselected Autodesk Revit as their implementation platform. However, the development ofBIM technology is far from the level of graphic design and it is imperfect in localizationand design standards. BIM designers often find some immature or awkward functions inRevit during the designing. In order to improving efficiency and savings cost, according tothe actual demands, it is necessary to make a customization second development for thesoftware. In this case, a building information modeling functional expansion packagebased on Revit has been presented.By collecting design requirements from various professional designers, thecorresponding expansion package combined with design habit will be customized.Divided by the users and functions, the expansion package contains following four parts.The drawing toolset can be used to edit and manage information from frame-labels. Theview toolset aims at strengthening the view’s details according to specific needs. The gridstoolset can be used to draw grids and create walls/beams based on grids. The curtain-walltoolset can be used to flatten irregular curtain-walls and make dimensions. The expansionpackage has many characteristics as localized, operational flexibility, compatibility, easyto embed, and it is suitable for full professional of BIM design.After fully learning C#language,.NET development technology and Revit API, themethods of Revit secondary development have been summed up. Through the strict testand actual operation, the result showed that each toolset satisfied design requirements well.The design ideas and methods showed in this thesis is reasonable and practical and theyare valuable for developing similar BIM systems.
