Development And Improvement Of Media Gateway Driver In VoIP System

Media-Gateway, which connects the IP networks and PSTN, plays an important role in the VoIP resolutions.Media-Gateway can work like a terminal of the PSTN, taking part in calling process just like a telephone, and it also can perform like an IP telephone. The driver program is an important part of the software system of Media-Gateway, and it determines the Gateway’s process power、expansive ablity and reliability.During the development of the driver, the driver’s functions are perfected steadily during solving problems in developing and achieving customer’s requirements. I have done a lot of work in improving the quality of voice、mutli-format CallerID、fax. The improvement of driver based on new firmware has achieved good effect. The new driver now achieved many functions such as the basic voice communication、fax and so on. But in order to improve the new driver’s stability, we have to do a lot of work next.This article is divided into four sections of six chapters. The first part is chapter 1、2, it introduces the research background and the relevant technology. The second is chapter 3 that analyzes the driver’s software structure and the implement of the driver’s functions. The third is chapter 4, it introduces the improvement work of the driver based on new chip firmware and the effect of the work. The forth is chapter 5 and 6, it introduces the test of the driver including function test and stability test, and in the last makes conclusion of this article.
