Study On Internet Rumors

The rumor is an old phenomenon of information dissemination. Throughout ancient and modern Chinese and Western countries, rumors adapt to the change of human society with its tenacious vitality and internet rumors emerged with the coming of the era of network as times required. Internet rumors refer to the rumors that spread through the internet. It is not an unprecedented new thing, but a new form of traditional rumors. The arrival of network era has promoted the growing and spreading of rumors. Depending on the secretive and unbounded features of internet transmission, internet rumors can produce a great damage in a very short time. In recent years, the growing network rumors have brought a heavy blow to individuals and enterprises. They heavily disturbed the social order, harmed the national image and destroyed the system of social trust. Preventing and governing network rumors has become more and more urgent, which is the basic requirement of the advanced socialist culture, the inevitable demand of building a harmonious network environment and the basic safeguard to maintain good social order.This paper regards the Internet rumors as the research object, and puts forward the measures of prevention and governance about Internet rumors by using the methods of literature analysis and case analysis, concluding the research results of Internet rumors at home and abroad, and combining with the real cases in recent years to systematically analyze and summary the internet rumor. In this paper, the research can be divided into five parts. The first part mainly introduces the research background, significance and present situation at home and abroad. The second part mainly presents the classification and the new characteristics of Internet rumors. This part classifies Internet rumors from certain fields such as politics, economy, society and natural environment and summarizes the characteristics of Internet rumors at the same time. The third part discusses the harm of Internet rumors, elaborates the dangers of Internet rumors from individuals, businesses, social order, national image and social trust system. The fourth part analyzes the cause of Internet rumors from the government, the media, the public and the legislation. The fifth part puts forward the way to prevent and govern Internet rumors based on the cause of Internet rumors. Namely, managing the internet rumors should use the leading role of government, the guiding part of the media, the basic function of the public and the limitation of legal restraint. In order to build the diversified system of Chinese Internet rumors, all parties should unite and make its own contribution.
