At present, with hospital information construction going through several stages of development, Hospital Information System (HIS), Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), Radiology Information System (RIS), Laboratory Information System (LIS), and many other health care professional applications have become increasingly rich, powerful and sophisticated. They have become the core of hospital information technology. But as time goes on, more and more data generated by these applications, and the value of the data was also growing, the application interruption or data loss caused by any man-made or natural factors, can result in enormous economic losses, reputation damage and serious legal consequences in the hospital.Therefore, hospital information system should be established as a set of high-availability systems to avoid any single point of failure and should have the capabilities of powerful data protection and application-level disaster recovery. At the same time, it is necessary to consider the return on investment.This thesis is based on the Ruijin Hospital disaster recovery system project. It analyzes the requirements and design goal of the disaster recovery for the hospital information system. Base on careful study and comparison of a series of key disaster recovery technologies and their applications including storage mirror volume technology, storage snapshots, remote replication, server clustering, Fast Cache etc., this thesis puts forward areference model of complex application-level disaster recovery design by combining data mirroring and asyncronized data replication to meet the actual requirements of the hospital. The implementation of an application level disaster recovery system for the hospital information system was detailed at last.The implementation of the system not only supports disaster recovery but also improves the business performance of the whole HIS system. It provides a strong support for the stable, reliable, and efficient running of a digital hospital.
