High-definition and high-speed camera is widely used at industrial monitoring, image recognition and non-contact measurement. The image quality has a great influence on the subsequent image processing effect. Due to the differences of production principle and technology, the imaging quality of CCD sensor is better than CMOS sensor, so the demand about CCD camera is more. In view of this situation, this paper designed a high-definition and high-speed CCD camera using KAI-01050image sensor and USB3.0transmission channel.The hardware design of the system is divided into two parts:image acquisition module and data transmission module. Image acquisition module uses the C8051F921MCU to configurate AD9920A’s registers to generate the horizontal and vertical driving signals, uses OPA690to convert the voltage level of horizontal signals to meet the requirements of CCD. Then drive the image sensor with these signals. The data transmission module uses FPGA as the MCU, completing the prosess of data saving and transmission. The CYUSB3014chip was used to implement USB3.0protocol, receiving data from FPGA and retransmitting it to PC.The software design of the system is divided into four parts:the AD9920A configuration program, generates the line and field signals which CCD needs, amplifies the video signal and correlated double sample it; FPGA transmission control program, responsible for data saving and data width conversion, then send image data to USB3.0chip using the data-transfer state machine. Additionally, this program receives the parameters sent by PC and retransfer them to image sensor; USB3.0firmware program is responsible for configuration of GPIF II interface and establishing the DMA data channel; Computer image display program receives data through USB3.0channel and displays the image on screen using MFC and multithreading program, this part also transfers parameters from PC to FPGA.The camera has the characteristics of large active area, simple analog front end circuit, fast data transfer rate etc. The camera has complete data acquisition, transmission and display based on many times tests. It can run stably at1024X1024resolution,30fps with high qualitu images.When using4output channels, the frame rate can be120fps. At the same time, the parameters can be changed through computer, so the requirements of the design is achieved.
