Method Of Sea Ice Tracking And Recognition Based On Image Processing

Ice age will be accompanied with the coming of winter in seasonal cold waters. In our country, the Bohai Sea region is the most serious areas influenced by sea ice. Therefore, real-time and accurate monitoring of these sea ice of the sea area is a necessary task of the government, also is the important measures to safeguard the people’s production and living. At present, our country has implemented the monitoring system that based on satellite, radar and video images. The system can provide abundant original monitoring information of the sea ice. This paper introduces a kind of sea ice recognition and tracking method that based on image processing technology.This paper first briefly introduces several kinds of image processing algorithm which usually be used in sea ice image processing. Image segmentation algorithm will split the image in order to distinguish between the target and the background; Image calibration is to calibrate the image acquisition equipment in order to find out the internal and external parameters of the equipment (such as camera); Perspective transformation can transform the normal sea ice images into a picture of vertical view, so that we can get the correct data from the experiment. Sea ice recognition must be implemented before sea ice tracking. A sea ice binary picture’s being determined need three steps. First, the picture will be grizzled and denoised. Then it will be segmented and process it in a special way like image morphology. At last, the information of sea ice such as size, quantity and proportion can be computed from the picture and sea ice recognition has been finished. Finally, the paper introduces a method of sea ice tracking. By analyzing the data of experiment, the reason why mean-shift and Kalman algorithm failed to track the sea ice was found. And a new method with target filter is presented.This paper implemented a kind of sea ice recognition and tracking method that based on image processing technology. It has been used to monitoring system and obtained a good performance.
