In the chemical industry, batch reactor is a important production equipment. With the development of industrial production technology, people’s demand on the quality of products produced is increasing. Batch reactor is a equipment with complex reactbn mechanism and exist strong time lag, big inertia and a particularly strong nonlinear. In the actual industrial production, temperature is not only an important indicator of the impact on product quality, but also may have a direct impact on production efficiency. How to improve the control of batch reactor vessel temperature to be fast and accurate, has become an important goal and a difficulties for this class of complex objects’control.A new kind computer control algorithms had been raised in the1980s by Clarke, called Generalized Predictive Control. The GPC devebped on the basis of adaptive control, online identificatbn, minimum variance control, etc. which are the Control features of the adaptive control are retained. GPC also learns to use the idea of rolling optimizatbn which is an important control feature of MAC and DMC. Its own characteristic is based on the parameters of the model, don’t need the strict exact mathematical model. Based on the above characteristics, makes the performance and robustness of GPC be greatly improved. GPC has become a control algorithm which is used the most widely and researched most actively in Predictive Control, so it has attracted a growing number of scholars. Because of its excellent control effect and robustness, fots of the successful applications cases have occurred in the actual industrial production, especially in the petrochemical industry.Based on the Liaoning Key Lab of Advanced Control Systems for Industry Equipments, batch reactor, designed a distributed control system on batch reactor process, which is constituted by PC, PLC, industrial control network etc. S7-300PLC as data collectbn and actuators. The configuration software on PC to complete GPC Algorithm Programming to achieve the optimal control of batch reactor vessel temperature by GPC.
