Augmented Reality (AR) is a kind of technology which combines a virtual object with real environment organically and provides users with rich visual services. AR is based on real environment and superimposes virtual content objects just upon the real world. When changes happen to user’s real surroundings, the position of virtual objects will make corresponding changes to ensure the combination of real and virtual. Existing smart phones have visual computing, image recognition, location acquisition and pose perception functions, making the mobile phone a good carrier for augmented reality, so that augmented reality research and applications have emerged for mobile platform. Mobile augmented reality allows users to see virtual information superimposed on the real interface captured by camera through the phone’s built-in sensors which is used to perceive the current state of the device. Nowadays, AR application has been touched as one of the possible killer applications for smart phones and has great development space. The focus of this paper is to summarize existing implementations of mobile augmented reality technology by researching the characteristics of AR technology and applications, and to analyze the problems in the existing methods and techniques. On this basis, a dynamic self-adaptive model for Augmented Reality browsing is proposed. Eventually, this model is applied to our real-time bus search system. In this paper, we firstly analyze current research situation and typical applications on AR, and then lead to the goal and significance of our subject. Secondly, we introduce the key technologies to implement AR application, including augmented reality technology, positioning technology and sensor technology of mobile terminal, Qt and Qt Mobility programming techniques, and Baidu map application technology. Thirdly, we give the requirement analysis and overall design of the real-time bus search system, and illustrate the concrete implementation of real-time browsing function, which contains map-based browsing and AR based browsing. At last, we verify the feasibility of this system through test of real scene. In the end, we make a summary of this paper, and point out the current shortcomings and future works. Works and achievements during the master graduate study are summarized at the same time.
