With the development of society and improvement of consumption level, there is anincreasing number of people use internet to seek and purchase commodities instead ofsticking to traditional consumption habit. The enthusiasm for on-line shopping haswelcomed an increasing rate with48%each year. Due to the fact that the e-ecommerceis sharply developing and the competition is getting more fierce nowadays, in order tostimulate the consumer desire for purchasing, e-commerce enterprises have paid moreattention to details, to be specific, in order to make contribution to their market share,more e-commerce enterprises have realized the importance of layout design, theinteraction with customers as well as their on-line purchasing experience. As a result,e-commerce is expecting a higher standard of layout design of their websites. To someextent, the level of website layout design can reflect the culture, background of the e-commerce enterprise. However, in China, the majority of developed e-commerceenterprises and some developing e-commerce companies still have some existingproblems such as indistinct visual design elements, lack of order and elegance,uncreative commercial ideas, ect. With the purpose of getting costumers’ preference aswell as considering the practical meaning of website layout design, it is worth to exploreand discuss the website layout design. To be specific, that is about how to organizecontent clearly in order to make it more elegant, how to enhance the interaction withconsumers.Through analyzing visual design and information expression in e-commerce websitelayout, this thesis summarized expression forms about elements in website layoutdesign. Furthermore, author of this thesis explored consumers’ inner reflection towardsvisual design in website layout by analyzing related theories and research. What’s more,author also discussed the further improvement of website layout design in order to meetconsumers’ demand. Moreover, some cases about well-known e-commerce websitedesign have also been chosen for analysis in this thesis. Through analyzing andcomparing with some typical cases in western countries, this thesis aims at figuring outsome existing problems as well as providing some practical solutions in order to makecontribution to e-commerce website visual design.
