Network Course Layout Design And Its Application

The web-based education has prospered since the Ministry of National Education began the pilot of instruction at a distance among four universities (Tsinghua University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Zhejiang University, Hunan University) in September in 1998. The rapid development and popularization of web-based education not only created new educational modes and thus contributed much to turning out creative talents in response to the demands of the development of knowledge economy. At the same time, it also bring about a new field of design----the web page design of online course, which include word design, image design, color design, flash or video design, layout and so on. Layout is not only an element of web page design as same as other elements, but it is the most important part because it shoulders arrangement of other elements.The layout of online course is different from common layout of web page, which should be designed rigorous, standard and take the education information transmission as the principle. It should not only conform to esthetics principle, but also fuse the teaching energetic essential meaning and esthetics value in a body. The simple sense design could not meet higher demand. The new design should have the instruction of cognition theory and the design theory, unit with concrete course content, make the design creativity and then display it directly, which have the high esthetics value and the rich content implication.Though much research has been done in online course and layout of web page, yet the study on the layout in online course is few, which offers a new idea brought forth in this paper. After search relevant materials, this paper makes an attempt to give a systematic study on layout of online course by ways of examples and analogy. And this paper hopes to be practical, purposeful and instructional.The first chapter in this paper introduces the concept, actuality of layout in online course in and abroad. And it also analyses the role and the deficiencies of the layout in online course now. In chapter two, the theory of the design idea and psychological features of learners is illustrated, which include the theories of vision, theories of cognition, and theories of design. Based on the relevant theories of visual communication design and the current situation of the layout in online course, the design idea of layout in online course is put forward. In chapter three, it introduces the principle of layout in online course, that is, it learns from the theory of plane design, concludes a set of design steps applying to layout in online course. Besides, the chapter also introduces briefly vision element design in layout in online course. In chapter four, it introduces the types of layouts in online course and illustrates the commonest layout in different pages. In chapter five, it takes the example of photography foundation to analyze systematically the concrete application of layout design in online course.The innovation is reflected mainly in the following aspects:1. Through the research of the instructive theory and the analysis of the examples of different pages, it proposes the improvement strategy for the layout of online course.2. Through the research of theories about design, takes in other disciplines methodologies to this research, it proposes the design procedure strategy and the problems for the web course page design.3. Through the analysis of hundreds of web pages, especially the pages of photography foundation, it comprehends the application of the theory of layout in online course and is instructional to the practice.
