With the advent of the era of100G, optical fiber communication will face higher requirements. In dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) system, communication capacity will befuther ehanced by adopting bi-directional transmission. The dispersion management solitons(DMS),broadens and compresses pulse periodicly during transmission through changing thedispersion of the fiber, which makes the performance more stable. The new modulation format, dual polarization-four phase shift keying (DP-QPSK),has high spectrum efficiency. Combiningwith the characteristics of DMS conformal during transmission, the nonlinear damage can beresisted, soliton interaction and the effects of ASE noise can be reduced, which is especially suitablefor high-speed DWDM long distance transmission stability. Using advanced modulation type, andcombined with the DMS in the bi-directional DWDM system, therefore, is one of the ideal solutionsto realize high speed and long distance and large capacity of communication for the next generationoptical network.Firstly, this paper introduces the development process of optical fiber communication and theresearch background of this issue, and the current research of high-speed optical fibercommunication at home and abroad were summarized. Secondly, this paper introduces the principleand mathematical model of soliton communication, and expounds the concept and characteristics ofbidirectional HL DWDM optical soliton communication, the main restrictive factors and keytechniques are discussed in detail. Then, taking into account the fiber loss, reverse Rayleighscattering, higher-order effects, ASE noise and soliton interaction, etc., in the frequency domainfiltering control scheme, using variational method to derive the evolutionary dynamics equations ofbidirectional DWDM DP-QPSK dispersion managed soliton characteristic parameters withnormalized transmission distance from the nonlinear Schrodinger equation, and the theoreticalanalysis for its transmission characteristics was given. Finally, the100Gbit/s DP-QPSKtransmission system based on DMS in bidirectional DWDM system was designed and itsperformance was numerically simulated by using Optisystem and Matlab. The simulation resultsshow that this approach is benefit for the stable transmission of the system.
