Optical communication has the feature of high bit-rate, large capacity, long transmission distance and high ability of resisting interference. However, fiber dispersion makes pulses broaden, and thus has bad effects on the development of optical communication. Compensating dispersion using optical soliton is an effective method to improve fiber communication system performance. Dispersion management technology has recently been the hot topic of advanced fiber communication research. This paper analyzes influence on soliton communication systems by some factors, such as fiber loss, amplifier noise, interaction between solitons, collisions among different channels in WDM systems and so on. Secondly, this paper analyzes performance of soliton systems, DM systems, and DDM systems, and makes simulation on these systems operating at 10Gb/s and 20Gb/s using fiber communication system simulation tool, OptiSystem. With the BER of 10-9 (Q of 6), this paper compares system performance among these soliton systems. At last, this paper put forward a new dispersion management method, dispersion decreasing densely dispersion management. System simulation shows that compared to former methods, this new dispersion management can effectively improve system performance, and extend transmission distance. Setting proper dispersion management number can further improve system performance.
