RFID technology is an important technology of the Internet of things, which has been quite mature. However, the popularity of RFID technology is not enough. The reason is mainly from the RFID tag. RFID tag’s cost is far higher than bar code’s, which has become the bottleneck of RFID technology. RFID electronic tag’s cost mainly lies in the chip’s cost and the cost of chip package. In recent years, more and more engineers focus on RFID chip-less tag. But the technical scheme cannot be fully printed, the bit of digital code is short and reader’s cost is too high.This paper has studied the basic principle of RFID chip-less technology, the chip-less RFID tag on the mainstream is analyzed in detail, and we present a new scheme of chip-less RFID tag, which choose the frequency selective surface as the multi-resonator instead of chip to encode data. The experiment result performance excellent. Frequency selective surface is a set of filter patch, puts forward the thought of this, the design of chip-less RFID tag has a great future. More valuable scheme will be present with different frequency selective surface. This paper is very meaningful, and will bring a bright future of RFID technology.
