The research goal of the thesis is to design and implement a LTE-A baseband unit for communication test set. The author participated in the board project design, chip selection, and is responsible for the schematic design, PCB design, board debugging, and the final productization. The main content for this paper is as followings:Chapter I introduces the research background.Chapter II presents the overall design structure of the baseband unit. Firstly, it describes the system architecture of the communication test set and the position of the baseband unit in it. Then, the thesis analyses the system requirements of the baseband unit. Finally, it focuses on the design project of the baseband unit.Chapter III accomplishs the schematic design of the baseband unit. Firstly, it accomplishs the chip selection of DSP as well as its high-speed interfaces design. Then the thesis accomplishs the chip selection of FPGA and its important interfaces design. Finally, it focuses on the board power system design, clock system design and configuration system design.Chapter IV accomplishs the PCB design of the baseband unit. Firstly, it accomplishs the design of the layers structure and the PCB impedance control design. Then, one by one, it accomplishs the layout, route of the board. Finally, the PCB design of the board is accomplished.Chapter V accomplishs the debugging and performance verification of the baseband unit. Firstly, it focuses on the debugging of the board power system, clock system, and configuration system. Then it accomplishs the debugging and performance verification of the high-speed interfaces including DDR3interface, SGMII interface, AIF2 interface, SRIO interface, Hyperlink interface, PCIE interface and the EMIF interface.Chapter VI accomplishs the auto-test program design of the baseband unit’s productization, including DSP, FPGA auto-test programs and MFC user interface program. It includes the chip program dynamically loaded auto-test, hardware interface auto-test, board number and other its own information’s auto-test.Chapter VII is the summary and prospects of the thesis.Baseband unit is one of the core components of communication test set. The baseband unit designed in this thesis has passed functional verification and met the design goals, and it has a great significance for the development and evolution of communication test set.
