Naked Eye Stereoscopic Playback Technology Research

We are in a three-dimensional world, and showing the real three-dimensional (3D) world is human’s dream. With the rapid development of science and technology, stereoscopic display technology is the development trend of the next generation of multimedia technology, three-dimensional display has become a hot direction of scientific research. Stereoscopic image display practice and theory development makes the foundation of stereoscopic imaging technology.Three-dimensional synthetic in naked eye stereoscopic playback technology not only computationally intensive but also requires real-time. Designing appropriate three-dimensional synthesis algorithm to play the3D video smoothly is one of the focus of the technology. This paper, according to the structure of three-dimensional lenticular display, designs the method of three-dimensional synthetic of side-by-side format, style box format, color plus depth format and so on. These methods introducing mask technology to three-dimensional synthetic and greatly simplifies the design of the player, and is suitable for parallel computing which can be efficiently implemented in the graphics card. In addition, for the three-dimensional model’s display, a new method base on shear transformation is elaborated, this method uses two virtual camera to simulate the human’s two eye to get the left and right image and display them on the naked eye stereoscopic display. This technology lets the existing3D game scene displayed directly on the naked eye stereoscopic display. Finally, we use the modular design pattern, designed a high performance naked eye stereoscopic playback system which is easy to expand. The system supports common file, HTTP, RSTP network video streams as the input, and implemented four rendering method:OpenGL, Direct3D,CPU, and SSE2. The player can playback HD video on personal laptops, and the stereo effect is perfect.
