People always prefer stereoscopic video to plane video, because Stereoscopic video includes the depth information of scene, which can provide the third dimension and the reality. Along with the rapid development of multimedia communication technology, stereoscopic video has extensive application perspective in many fields, such as videoconference, entertainment, remote education and virtual reality. So far as it goes, there are some stereoscopic video players, which can only play back local video files, but not supply the streaming function. Furthermore, the way of stereo imaging is one and only, some provide anaglyph, some provide Sync-Doubling or provide Page-Flipping, which all need special hardware. Due to the limit of video players, most of the video transmitted on the Internet is plane, which has no reality. So, Developing stream stereoscopic video player will facilitate the wide use of stereoscopic video on the Internet. In this dissertation, various stereo imaging techniques, DirectShow, streaming multimedia, stereoscopic video compression coding were focused on. Net Stream Source Filter(NSSF) and Stereo Transformation Filter(STF) were developed, which respectively supplied streaming transmission and stereoscopic vision. On this base, the Stream Stereoscopic Player based on DirectShow was developed, which could supply more than one stereo imaging techniques and streaming playback. A real-time stereoscopic video system was designed in this dissertation, the system can supply real-time stereoscopic video from field pickup. Real-time stereoscopic player's design and realization, which was presented in detail, is the key problem of the real-time stereoscopic video system. The Real-time stereoscopic player can decode two independent Stereoscopic video, taking advantage of synchronization strategy base on sender's sorting frames and receiver's synchronization of decoding threads, realize the real-time stereoscopic vision. In addition, AVI and MPEG video were studied in order to compound two video files into one stereoscopic video, which was in AVI or MPEG format. At the end of this dissertation, one's own view about direction of improvement and father work for deeply research on stereoscopic video was put forward.
