TDM/WDM Hybrid PON combines the advantages of TDM PON and WDM PON, whichmakes it one of the best choices for next generation PON. TDM/WDM Hybrid PON introducesseveral wavelengthes at upstream direction which can be shared among different ONUs. This thesispresents a comprehensive and in-depth study on TDM/WDM Hybrid PON with theoretical andsimulations.Firstly, this thesis introduces the current situation of TDM PON and its developing trends. Thearchitecture of TDM/WDM hybrid PON and dynamic wavelength bandwidth allocation algorithmare analyzed in detail. Based on the exist architecture of TDM/WDM hybrid PON, an improvedsystem architecture is proposed along with the expanding of MPCP protocol to adapt the improvedarchitecture. Two different kind of improved algorithm are proposed. Theoretical analysis andsimulation results show that the improved architecture and algorithm can effectively improvewavelength resources efficiency, while ensuring the bandwidth requiremenst of user demands andreducing the average waiting time of users.
