Hybrid WDM-TDM PON combines both the maturity of TDM PON and high bandwidthadvantage of WDM PON, which makes it one of the best choices for next generation accessnetworks. Hybrid WDM-TDM PON introduces several bandwidth at upstream direction whichcan be shared by different ONUs. This thesis presents a comprehensive and in-depth study onhybrid WDM-TDM PON with theoretical and simulations. The principles of TDM PON have be analyzed in detail including EPON and GPON alongwith the analysis of WDM PON. Both the advantages and disadvantages are analyzed andcompared in detail. An improved wavelength statistical multiplexing and idle time eliminatingmechanism are proposed. Theoretical analysis and simulation results show the improvedalgorithm can both improving upstream bandwidth utilization and better time delay performance. |
