With the development of the digital botanical garden, it’s very important to build an intelligentsystem which can retrieve intelligently in several independently database for supporting a university’steaching, research and community service. At present, there are several botanical garden have built andused some similar systems, such as the china digital botanical garden has been built and an informationmanagement database system has been built for managing the cherish the endangered species in Beijingbotanical garden. It can provide the independent database retrieval service. A LICIS and living botanyinformation database have been built in Nanjing Zhongshan botanical garden. Although there areseveral similar information systems for this botanical garden and every system have its correspondingretrieval module, there is a problem that every system only can retrieve a single database, it can’tretrieve in multiple heterogeneous databases, and the result is incomplete and data association is notenough. It is very necessary to build a novel retrieval model which can resolve above problems. At first, after researching present botanical management system, we built some systems such as thevisual botanical exhibition system, campus botanical library and botanical portal. We also researchexisting systems such as botany donation and adoption system, herbarium system, wood specimensystem, flowers and plants database, and mobile botany one-click system to research. Basing thesesystems, we build an intelligent retrieval model. This model can intelligently retrieval theseheterogeneous database. At last we use K-Mean algorithm and SOM to research retrieval result forincreasing retrieval efficiency and accuracy. In this model, we can get uniform authentication, SSO(Single Sign On) and sharing data. Botanicalgarden’s manager logs in retrieval system by a same single ID, which avoids using different ID to log inand out others system. At the same time, this retrieval system service for the public, teaching staff, researchers and botanical amateurs also can log in this retrieval system to retrieve comprehensive andaccurate information. It reduces complexity and saves time for the user. It can support teaching andresearching better than before.
