In the recent years, with the rapid development of Internet industry and Internet data services, network quality of service for the people have become increasingly demanded. Traditional Internet network optimization and quality improvement is mainly rely on network maintenance personnel to complete by the experience, but for large, complex network, relying on past experience network optimization is often a loss, not a very effective solution to solve network problems. Today, the rapid growth of Scale in network and services, simply relying on experience to optimize the construction of the network has been difficult to adapt to the demands of the times, and the need for a more scientific and reasonable way to conduct studies to assess the network is available. The OPNET simulation platform appearing, provides a good help for this method. Using OPNET simulation and optimization of the Internet will become part of a network management operators.For the operator’s network optimization problems, the article use OPNET simulation software to simulate and analysis the China Unicom Internet for the first time. The main work includes the following sections of the article. First is study of China Unicom Internet architecture and flow regulation Strategy. By designing miniature model of Internet network,, operating performance were analyzed in interconnection of three interconnected ways from the network protocol configuration, multiple aspects of packet routing. Secondly, the article research and design optimization of network tools. For the problem that it’s difficult for the OPNET to establish a convenient topology and revise network structure parameters, the article based on OPNET XML file interface and JAVA programming language, designed a tool for large-scale network topology imported and parameter modified. It simplifies the problem of OPNET simulation of large networks, and for simulation design nature large carrier networks and enterprise networks provide a convenient, efficient design tools.Simulation for Internet interconnection, network delay and link utilization which are both network quality standards were compared and analyzed from three typical main drift between operators interconnect. Simulation and analysis of China Unicom network, for the larger network delay and link utilization problems, the article analysis network from the network topology which how to connect and network traffic regulation strategies. Finally, based on the study of common carrier network optimization methods, it presented to optimize the network of China Unicom’s network by modifying METRIC value to optimize the delay and link utilization. Article design optimization solutions, and make OPNET simulation, support the reasonableness of the design by simulation data. Internet simulation and optimization design provide a certain amount of help for the Internet optimization in the fature.
