Due to the presence of carbon rotary kilns have the characters of time-varying parameters, large inertia and large lag, the conventional control strategy is difficult to be used in carbon rotary kilns’control effectively at present. To solve this problem, three level control system scheme of carbon rotary kiln is proposed. The first level:detection system sweeps and analyzes the temperature, position and length of deadburn zone of carbon rotary kilns; the second level:basic automatic control system is based on model predictive control method which realizes multivariable coordinated control of feeding speed, temperature and negative pressure of kiln tail; the third level: intelligent decision-making system is based on the Fuzzy Clips inference engine that is to work out the fault analysis and decision information of working condition, so it can achieve fuzzy decision of optimum technique parameters and intelligent judgment, optimal control of the calcining zone of abnormal conditions. Taking Siemens PCS7as the automated control platform to integrate three-level control system, complete the design of control&optimization program and manufacturing communication program, establish a friendly human-computer interaction interface, so that it can high efficient and reliable running the program and database. This three level control structure realizes multidimensional control of rotary kilns operating condition based on multi control variables and methods. It makes multiple process parameters controlled on optimal point and achieve efficient combustion control of rotary kilns as well as meet the requirements of quality and yield, in addition maximize the service life of rotary kiln.
