In recent years, with the development of telecommunications and computer technology, the technology of Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing began to spread. With the increasing demand of the market, more and more people begin to pay attation to the study and improvement of CATI system. Currently, CATI system has some problems:insufficient flexibility of the system, which means the questionnaire can not be modified once generated; lack of usability and efficiency, which makes the questionnaire designer’s work complex and easy to make mistakes. These factors are restricting the promotion and development of CATI system. Therefore, how to improve the CATI system flexibility, usability and efficiency, has become a key issue of the research work of CATI system.This paper presents a design and impelemtation of the graphical business environment of CATI system, which uses XML files to store CATI questionnaire and provides users with a visual CATI service creating and editing environment. It will significantly improve the ease of use and efficiency of CATI system. At the same time, CATI graphics business environment also realized the feature of flexible jumps between questions, customization capabilities of Question types and functions to check the validation of questionnaire, which enhanced the flexibility and scalability of the system and riched the features of the system.This paper begins with the introduction of the background and the key technology. Then introduces the proposal of CATI graphics business environment and gives a brief analysis of the demands and system design. System design section describes the development environment and the main technology used by the system, and gives an architecture of four layers, which contains the persistence layer, data layer, control layer and user interface layer. After that, according to the four-layer structure of the system, detail design and implementation are introduced. Finally, test cases and execution results are given according to the functional goals of the system. After testing, the system is proved to be well implemented and meets the desired requirements. At the end of the paper, there is a conclusion of the current work and a prospect of the further work.
