The manufacture of non-standard firearms as well as the increasing of gun-related crime casescause great threat to the social safety.Because of the consistency and stabilityof bullet marks which collected by the same gun, the identification of bullet marks has an important effect on rapidlysolving the criminal cases.In this thesis, the Automatic Identification System of Non-standard Firearms’Bullet Marks is designed and implemented with the principle of the accuracy and reliability on bullet marks comparison. The system uses a MDI development framework of MFC, and combined with the actual needs of users, realizes the automatic identification module, the image processing moduleand the data management module. It is a highly comprehensive automatic identification and management systems.The main work of the thesis is as follows:(1) Design and implementation of automatic identification moduleBased on the automatic comparison algorithm with good performance, the system can complete the identification with high accuracy and fast speed.The user can select image ID from the comparison results so that to open bullet image in the image processing module.(2) Design and implementation of image processing moduleThe systemachieves a variety of basic image processing operations and provides the overlapping comparison and segmentation comparisonbase on the image characteristics of bullet mark image. The system also provides the function of automatically generatingbullet mark image comparison reports. The reports can extractimage’s basic informationfrom the image data management database name.(3) Design and implementation of image data management moduleBased on the case propertyof bullet mark image, three image information databases,which are case database, doc database and test database, are established.It realizes the feature extraction and related informationmanagementof bullet mark image.The system provides the cutting function for users to conveniently collect the standard bullet marks from original image.
