Data center is an important part of modern network system. With the ever-changing needs of network users the size and complexity of data centers increases and making the traditional management methods of optical network resources in data center not well adapted to the new requirements. So there should be a more intelligent way to manage optical network resource based on the needs and characteristics of traffic.This paper introduced software defined networking to the optical network management in data center to meet its new demand and used the service migration in data center scenario as a case for discussion. The control function of software defined network is concentrated in the controller and each node only need to complete a simple forwarding function. In the service migration scenario this paper gathered all the control part in the controller and designed the overall process.This paper designed and completed the network management system for the optical network in data center with software defined network. Compared with ASON the differences and similarities of the network management system for the two networks are as follows:1) They are similar in terms of network system information display such as visualize the network topology, collecte and statistics the network information, show real-time network alarm message.2) The difference between is that the protocols and the division of work are different. In software defined networking we need to extend the protocol to adapt to optical network.Therefor, it took the following three parts to complete the network management system:1) Complete the visualization part as conventional network management system.2) Obtain control imformation from controller and show it to the user. Openflow is the most widely used software defined networking protocol but openflow does not explicitly definition the northbound interface between the controller and the optical network management system so this paper extended the northbound interface based on the southbound interfaces when implementing the network management system.3) Complete the manual configuration functions in the interface. |
