With the national economy developed rapidly and quality of life of people improved continuously, people pay more close attention to security. The smart building network video intercom and monitoring systems, in a high-speed development stage, is successively entering people’s life, and its quality also means the grad of community. The systems becoming diverse and systematic in an increasingly will change the people’s life and social security for better. This building systems, with real-time monitoring, control, communicating and alarm, is approved by people, and economy security of people is safeguarded simultaneously by the system. Especially since the21st century, with the rapid growth of the computer industry, the popularity of broadband networks, the development of image processing technology, the system, in the future, must be the inevitable trend of development of video intercom and monitoring systems.Traditional building network video intercom and monitoring system adopt analog technology to transmit information of audio and video, resulting in wasting resources. At the same time, basic serial communication method is commonly applied to the instructions and data, but more than one communication signal line must be set when this method is chosen, causing equipment networking problem, so that filed wiring and debugging will be difficulty. Digitizing of building network video intercom and monitoring system is inevitable development trend, but simultaneously, transmission speed of digital signal is affected by transmission speed of network and computing speed bandwidth of CPU, so numerous information be transported may lead to some situation, such as the voice or image delayed or stop, happened. For realizing high-performance digital system, we must choose a favorable CPU and efficient compression algorithm, and considering economic factors, selecting a favorable and inexpensive CPU is particularly important.It is introduced in the paper that design and implementation of hardware and software of building network video intercom and monitoring system using the controller S3C6410based on Samsung ARM11and Linux-2.6.36kernel operating system. While terminal equipment embedded building system is connected to local area network, data of voice and video is transported by following RTP transfer protocol. Function of embedded terminal building network video intercom and monitoring system is realized because transmission, processing, storage and play of voice and video is achieved by Mediastreamer2streaming media processing framework technology.The building network video intercom and monitoring system designed in this article is a small volume, cheap and digital system. A real-time and reliability transmission of data and function of video communication and monitoring can be realized in the system, so the system will be used widely and has promotional value.
