In the background of Internet of Things (IOT), the value of which video information can betransmitted and concentrated is not only to get the information across the space distance,but also toextend the varieties of applications of intelligent analysis. It is needed not only to enhance depthreasearch in intelligent surveillance technology from the view of algorithm but also to propose highdemands for intelligent front-end agent in order to realize the Intelligence of surveillancesystem.The history of development of the intelligent agent is described in the beginning.Then,detailed equipment categories and working principles of the mainmodule of video monitoringsystem. In the video monitoring front-end systempart of the camera, camera equipment, imageacquisition and terminal controlequipment characteristics, categories and internal structure; in thevideo monitoring transmission system, the transmission effect, applicable placemakes a comparisonfor the environment medium coaxial cable, optical fiber,twisted pair cable, wireless transmissionsystem and the advantages and disadvantages; on the back end coding and decoding system,analyses the technical characteristics and working principle of DVR, DVS, NVRback-endequipment; based on introducing video system structure module, analyzed the keytechnology of intelligent monitoring system from a technical point of view.Finally, the technologyof public security of Changzhou to prevent projectvideo monitoring system as an example, analyzesthe construction process of large video monitoring system project, summarizes the maincustomersdemand orientation, core system functions and related project experiences and lessons.
