Study On The Access Network For FTTH

With rapid development of technology, Internet applications become more and morediversified, personalized, and comprehensive. Broadband competition is becoming increasinglyfierce, and the market demand for more and more high rate is increasing. However, the mainaccess approaches are still ADSL, FTTB, and ADSL access approach is at about80%of the totalaccess line, which has become the bottleneck of access rate improvement. Recently, Fiber to thehome (FTTH) is the right solution to the bottleneck problem for its data rate and high bandwidthadvantage. At the same time, the depolyment cost of FTTH is gradually declined, and with thesuccess of trial FTTH engineering in mass, FTTH has become the main stream access approach.This thesis focuses on FTTH technology and its application. Firstly, the basic knowledgeof optical communication and PON is intorduced. Then the overall planning of access opticalnetwork is studied, and the optical access network and layout are described from the point ofview of services. Based on that, the network mode of FTTH and ODN are studied, includingODN devices and their characteristics. Meanwhile, IODN is also studied, which is intelligentoptical distribution network based on eID technology. Finally, the overview and future of FTTHis also discussed.
