With the development of information technology, embedded system isbecoming the force in industrial and civil system for its high effiency, low cost,high reliability, abundant code resources, extensibility and portability. Embeddedsystem is the main part of the Internet of Things. The importance of embeddedsystem is not obliterate especially in Internet of Things.In this paper, reseach and design in lightweight specified embedded router isexhibited, combing embedded system and Internet’s architecture.In hardware, the system is based on SOPC technology, and external FPGAcircuit and the Nios II system is designed. The main focus here is Nios II systemwhich is consist of Nios II processor, Ethernet controller IP, SDRAM controller IP,UART controller IP, etc.In software, this paper introduces uC/OS-II real-time operating system andNicheStack TCP/IP protocol, and gives it’s transplantation to the Nios II. Based onuC/OS-II and NicheStack TCP/IP, this paper designs related router algorithm toimplement for networking and the data transmission.The special-purpose lightweight embedded router is verified on the platform,the results show that most of the designs have accomplish its aim and can affordsome reference to the deep design of embedded router and embedded gateway ofInternet of Things.
