With the rapid economic development in the past20years, car ownership rised rapidly in China, almost every household has a car. Cars provide convenient for people to travel and improve people’s lives, it also brings a series of problems, such as more severe urban traffic congestion, increasingly severe environmental pollution and frequent accidents and so on. The city parking lot construction and management level is far behind of the growth rate of car ownership, therefore, parking difficulties has become the most headache and urgent issues for the majority of car owners.Based on the city parking problem at present, a city smart parking management solution is proposed. The solution is based on the internet of things technology, manages the parking spaces which are scattered in different urban areas intelligently. The whole system achieves the function of parking spaces information collection, parking spaces information publication, parking spaces information inquiry, parking spaces reservation and parking fees management.Firstly, Through the investigation and research for users, parking, urban management department, we have a in-depth understanding and knowledge of the physical topology of the parking lot and the entire parking process. Then, proposed system design goals and requirement analysis. Secondly, the main technology and development platform are introduced briefly. And then completed the system architecture design, system information transmission protocol design, system modeling and system database design. Finally, based on a distributed architecture, using the mainstream object-oriented design methods, completed the detailed design of the system.At last, the smart parking spaces information service system is tested based on the experimental conditions. The test results show that the platform can achieve the basic functions of the system with good real-time performance and reliability. As a large information service system which covers multiple parking lots, the system makes the way of parking spaces information publication easier, and allows a wider range of services. Meanwhile, the system can effectively reduces the traffic volumes which are looking for parking spaces blindly, improve the urban traffic congestion indirectly, reduce the incidence of traffic accidents. Thus, reduce the urban environmental pollution and improve the appearance of the city.
