With the extensive application of information technology in the enterprise group, core competitiveness formed by Business Intelligence in which The Data Warehouse occupies an important position has become one of the Group’s most important core competitiveness, because it is a good solution to the enterprise " information-rich but poor knowledge " issue. But because of its long construction period, high construction costs, normal Data Warehouse technology has become a luxury which only a few industry can afford, such as telecommunications, banking and insurance.This paper conducted a comprehensive analysis of the key technologies of Data Warehouse, including data compression algorithm, columns storage technology and knowledge grid storage engines, on the base of which this paper design a lightweight Data Warehouse solution. This paper has fully taken the characteristics of SMEs into account, used a series of open-source tools to build this lightweight Data Warehouse, which has the feature of low construction cost, quick, good scalability and excellent performance.This paper further applied the lightweight Data Warehouse into a Driving Training System.Driving Training System of Jilin province is a driving training monitoring platform that include all driving school in the province, which keep a detail record of the entire process of driving training. This paper built lightweight Data Warehouse based on this Driving Training System. This paper designed the conceptual model, logical and physical models,which include three themes, trainees, vehicles and training This paper also designed ETL process which is an important part of the Data Warehouse.This paper also established a multi-dimensional analysis layer. On this layer Mondrian and Jpivot is used to achieve multi-dimensional analysis.
