Compared with traditional manual test, automation test has advantage with higherefficiency, faster, higher reliability, and lower cost and so on. This paper introduces thedevelopment and current status of LabVIEW platform in the qualification andmeasurement area. And then simple describe all the requirements of this automation testsystem. In order to better understanding this system, a brief description of opticalmodule on parameters define, test methods and standard are present. And then brieflyintroduced data structure, syntax and programming method of LabVIEW G language.After that, LabVIEW-based automation test platform was built and can successfullycontrol all the instruments. And database management based on LabVIEW was alsodiscussed. LabVIEW-based database management method was also discussed andsuccessfully found one solution to combine LabVIEW with ADO to achieve databasemanagement. Finally, one system with user management, automation test, data storage,data queries and report generation are successfully developed.In test section, designed separate subvi for every instrument to achieve instrumentcontrol, initialization, write command and read test results. By deploying optical switch,one single test can include as many as24pieces modules. A friendly interface has beendesigned to achieve equipment setting, instrument setting and database or files setting.By deeply studying the definition and test method of every parameter, have designedseparate test function for every parameter. According to instrument measure theory,show all the test result on the GUI of this test system, including test data and testgraphics. After all the parameters of one module has been finished, beside show all theresult on the GUI, at the same time this system will automated judge if every single testpass the test or not.Do a lot of study on the interconnection between common database and LabVIEWplatform. The connection between LabVIEW and ACCESS database has been created.According to the requirement of this specific system, one special database was designed.All the test results will be written into this database file after the test. A simple dataquery interface was designed, providing some simple queries commands. At the sametime in order to support complex and advance query application, this system alsocompatible with SQL language. In order to automated generate test report in WORDformat, test report generator function was designed.Finally results show that, this automated test system can greatly save efforts,reduces test time and increase test efficiency.
