With the rapid development of optical fiber communication in recent decades,DWDM (dense wavelength division multiplexing) device is applied on a large scale,the original big wavelength interval system needs to switch the new small wavelengthinterval system, we call it interleaver that it can provide the transition between largewavelength interval system to the small wavelength interval system, this paper studiesthe design and manufacturing of new type of two-in-one birefringent crystalinterleaver, its innovation lies in the Demultiplexer and the Multiplexer together, thusgreatly save the cost of materials of the products.Characteristics,application and structure of interleaver component are introducedin this thesis.And several typical realization technology of interleaver components arecompared. A novel scheme for birefi’ingent-crystal interleaver component ispresented,The crystal type of interleaver adopts the rutile and YVO4combinationscheme, this paper expounds the function and application, principle, method oftemperature compensation, structure, material design and index and parameterdefinition. The new two-in-one refraction crystal interleaver actually consists of twofilters, in addition to the collimator to increase, other element is basic common, thissaves the cost of materials, by light reversible, any device can be used asDemultiplexer device, a device can be used as a Multiplexer device.Paper deeply studied the design requirements of the single fiber collimator, waveplate design requirements, rhombic prism design requirements, YVO4designrequirements, PMD compensation design requirements and crystal component designrequirements; We develop the new process of birefringent crystal interleaver, wemade the sample of birefringent crystal interleaver. the new birefringent crystalInterleaver performance was tested.we made the results analysis for the data; we haveCompleted a new birefringent crystal Interleaver sample experiment and analysis, itachieved the expected development goal.
