During the period of information explosion, people were increasing in demanding for the amount of information, it was a big challenge for the backbone transmission system to expend the information capacity, enhance the transmission of quality, improve the reliability and other such requests. The devleopment of optical fiber communication and dense wave division multiplexing technology met the people's demanding on the communication systems temporarily.EDFA with low noise and good gain characteristics, and compatible with WDM systems, etc., reduced the transmission costs and improved the quality of transmission. But EDFA gain was not linear growth, high concentrations of quenching problems limited its further development. However, the EYDFA proposed not only made the gains maintaining EDFA's original performance, but solved this problems, which provided a reference for the long-distance and high-capacity transmission systems, more had laid the foundation for the future development of optical networks. In this paper, it was simulated and analyzed regarding the application of the EYDFA in the hybrid amplifier transmission systems, the specific works were as follows. The length and Yb-doping concentration of the ytterbium erbium-doped fiber were carefully screened by the simulation, then drew a conclusion which were the best fiber length and the best ratio of the concentration of erbium-doped ytterbium for this transmission system; Based on the same conditions, the traditional hybrid fiber amplifier (FRA and EDFA) as well as FRA and EYDFA hybrid fiber amplifier consisting of transmission systems were simulated and compared in the 2.5Gb/s and 10Gb/s rates, and later two different dispersion compensation techniques were respectively used in the two systems under the rates of 10Gb/s and 40Gb/s.
