With the development of society and the growing economic power of China,more and more highbuildings spring up. And as the living conditions of people inChina have improved a lot, more and more modernized residence communities arebuilt up. This improvement not only contributes to our economic environment, butalso brings a bloom to the elevator industry in China.Video surveillance is introduced to the remote monitoring system, whichenriches the way to monitor the elevator. Firstly, the three stages of the developmentof video surveillance system are summarized, and based on that the characteristics ofelevator video surveillance system are generalized. Then the structure and function ofthe IP-Camera based network video surveillance system is discussed in details and thevideo management software is developed to realize the elevator image display, storage,playback and search functions. Finally, the application of image processing techniquein elevator video monitoring is investigated. The functions of image formatconversion, similarity calculation, binarization treatment, connected domainidentification are realized by Visual C++and the purpose to identify the number ofpassengers outside the elevator car is eventually actualized, so the accurate trafficflow is provided for the elevator group dispatching.On the basis of the analysis of the structure and function of traditional elevatormonitoring system, the overall structure of network monitoring system is designed.Through requirement analysis, user-case analysis and functional design, theimprovement scheme is proposed to add function modules such as networkcommunication, performance analysis, and fault alarm. The communication betweenmonitoring workstations and the elevator controller is achieved by the programmingtechnique of Windows Socket. The design and implementation of the COM-basedperformance analysis components is investigated, and Visual C++is used to developperformance analyzer to achieve the performance analysis functions on the elevatormonitoring station.
