IEEE1588precision clock synchronization protocol (PTP) and High Reliabilityseamless redundancy (HSR) protocol provide an effective way to the real-time andreliable communication in industrial automation, power systems and other industries,which become the major trend of automated communication systems’s futuredevelopment. Especially in smart substation communication system, through IEEE1588clock synchronization standard has been applied in practice, while HSRredundancy protocol standard is still not perfect, whether the two protocols can becompatible with each other will need futher study. In order to solve this problem, thepaper researches the time synchronization performance of IEEE1588clocksynchronization protocol in a simple HSR redundant network ring and the followingworks are mainly finished:1. According to PTP and HSR protocol communication features, a hybrid clocklogic model supporting both two protocols is designed and the correspondingsimulation model combined with the OMNeT++simulation software is established.2. The communication process of the PTP clock synchronization messages inHSR redundant network is discussed, which further determines the configurationscheme of PTP protocol.3. Finally, a simple HSR redundant ring network simulation environment is builtin the OMNeT++simulation platform. And the PTP clock synchronizationperformances of each node under different bandwidth communication are researched.Then the redundancy of HSR network is analyzed through setting different single-linkconnection failure.The paper proved that PTP protocol can achieve its high-precision clocksynchronization in HSR ring redundant network. And the ring redundant network canensure PTP synchronous communication, and can reach a certain synchronizationaccuracy, even when the single-link connection failure happens, which can fulfill theproject’s stated goal.
