The Automatic welding filter is an important kind of welding protectiveequipment which can protect welders from the welding arc. Diffused light is a keycharacteristic that can determine the quality of automatic welding filters. However,effective and fast testing equipment for this characteristic is still not mature in China.As the basis with the national standard, the test equipment that can evaluate thediffused light when the shade number of automatic welding filters is3to13wasdeveloped.The work of this project includes four parts:1. The overall scheme of the testing instrument of for diffused light of automaticwelding filters in line with national standards was proposed on the basis of accessingto domestic and foreign-based automatic welding filters’ testing standards and relateddocuments.2. The detailed design of the optical system, mechanical structure, hardwarecircuit and software of the testing system was completed, which included light anddark states trigger system, the signal detection system of measuring light based onsingle-chip microcomputer and external communication system based on PC.3. The reduced luminance factor of filters’ diffused light was measuredpreliminarily and the experimental results were analyzed, which proved that thesystem can be used to measure the diffused light of automatic welding filters when theshade number of automatic welding filters is3to13.4. The deficiency of the system was analyzed, and the outlook of future workdirection was given.
