With the improvement of calculated performance requirements and the increasing of theequipment’s number and types in the system, the workload of system maintenance personnelwill also increase gradually. In order to keep the system stably running,maintenance personneloften check the running status of the equipment in the system so that the equipment failurescan be repaired in a timely manner. So how to effectively manage platform system has been aproblem and we need an effective way to uniformly manage these numerous systems,evencross-platform systems.Intelligent management platform refers specifically to monitoring, managing and evenremotely managing machines without relying on the operating system. The category ofIntelligent management platform is more flexible than the SNMP software which running onthe operating system. It can automatically monitor and recovery hardware and firmware ofplatform management.Intelligent platform management realize automatic monitoring and restoring function onthe platform management hardware and firmware. The key attributes of Intelligent platformmanagement is to store and monitor information, save the log and restore control. Platformmanagement function is still effective under the situation of power outage. Autonomouscharacteristic of IPMI will overcome the the restrictions of the management way based on theoperating system. Through IPMI, users can initiatively monitor the state of the components, toensure that not beyond preset threshold,such as server’s temperature and so on. By avoidingthe irregular power outage, it helps maintain the running time of IT resources. Thefault-forecasting capacity of IPMI also contribute to managing IT cycle, checking the systemevent logs, and easily concluding faulty components in advance. Using this interface standarddesign is helpful to implement system management in different platform system on hardware,and make it possible to manage the different platforms centrally.Intelligent platform management interface is a kind of hardware management interfacespecification with open standard. It defines the specific method of the embedded managementsubsystem for communication. By using the IPMI, the users can monitor physicalcharacteristics of server and other equipment, such as temperature, voltage, working state offan, power supply and chassis intrusion, etc. Usually, IPMI information exchange through the baseboard management controller (BMC), you can use the low-level hardware intelligentmanagement rather than the operating system.Intelligent platform management is very important to enterprise efficacious systemmanagement.Intelligent platform management can gain status information of platform even ifsystem management software and routine management mechanism fail, and perform thesystem restore operation as needed. Compared with the traditional platform managementsystem, intelligent management platform system has its own uniqueness and superiority.This thesis mainly studies the Intelligent platform management system implementationbased on the IPMI specification, providing a solution for the system management in differenthardware platform. Using the hardware management system In this article’s implementationcan monitor the running status of each hardware in real time, realize fan board monitoring,substrate performance monitoring, system resource managing and other functions bycontrolling temperature.
