A Reserch On The Current Discourse Practice Of Media Criticism From The Mainstream Media In China

Based on the467articles about media criticism published by the mainstream media such asthe People’s Daily, this thesis discusses the current status of discourse practice from themainstream media criticism in China. Firstly, the thesis adopts the method of content analysisand presents the overall appearance of the media criticism practice from the mainstream media inthe aspects of sources, issues, levels, standards, attitudes and media types. As a kind of discoursepractice，the discourse production of media criticism from the mainstream media is influenced byboth political and professional factors, which shows characteristics like journalism, readabilityand functionality. It not only pays attention to the news communication principles and the artsabout discourse production, but also consists with the functions of public opinion guidance.From the view of objective and subjective factors, there are some limits of the media criticismfrom the mainstream media, such as the lack of discourse space, loose critical team, lesspertinence and the social influence is still needed further improvement. Finally, this thesisdiscusses the practical significance of the media criticism from the mainstream media.The current discourse practice of media criticism from the mainstream media in our countryis not only consisted with the connotation of "criticism" and the tradition of discipline, but alsoclosely related to the current media activities in a strong local characteristic, which providesexcellent proving ground for the construction of Chinese medium criticism theory. Meanwhile,the discourse practice of media criticism from the mainstream media plays an important role incorrecting the wrong tendency in critical activities and integrating the forces of media criticismfrom other fields.
