Sources Research On Controversial Event

This study is based on Sohu net’s feature story of "Limou’s event", emphatically analyzesnews source characteristics and trends of the lasted nearly one year’s reports.Combining theconstruct theory to analyze of the effect of selection of sources on the agenda rheology, in orderto find the use of the media reports on controversial event sources.Statistical results show that the media reports about "Limou’s events" has distinctcharacteristics in the source usage: overall reference source shortage, traditional media’sreference are much more than the network media, late reports’ cited sources are much more thanearly reports. In addition, anonymous sources also is the focus of this research. From the point oftime dimension, as things clear, anonymous cited sources are declining; from the point of mediaproperties, traditional media are more wary of anonymous sources.In the process of study, we found that Sohu net special report on "Limou’s event" have threeshortcomings: first one is there are too much network sources, second is the abuse of anonymoussources, the last one serious news reports were excessive entertainment-oriented. Given theimportant influence of news sources on news production, we should standardize it fromself-discipline and heteronomy.The author tries to give some suggestions: learn from the rules ofwestern mainstream media about anonymous sources usage, insist on the principle of pressbalance operation, multiple sources validate and verify mutually, and correctly grasp the"degree" of news entertainment.
