Process Design Kit is an integration of complete design files providedto analog/mixed-signal IC circuit design, and also an integral data platformconnecting IC process manufacturing and IC design.With the purpose of developing PDK which has superior performanceand is easy to maintain and update, this dissertation proves the superiority ofrealizing optimized development on PDK based on PDK AutomationSystem (PAS) through the comparison of different modes of PDKdevelopment. On this basis, the design process and methods adopted in PDKdevelopment are studied and discussed through the optimized developmentof0.13um RF process PDK technical file, CDF parameters andparameterized cells (Pcell). Thereinto, the optimized development of CDFparameters and parameterized cell (Pcell), the kernel of PDK, has beenpresented in a detailed way in the paper. In Pcell design of the devices,delicate analysis of the device structure is carried out in the paper. Besides,on the basis of traditional design methods, the design method of deviceparameterization has been optimized, thereby presenting various structuraloptimization algorithms, such as mirror image copy, overall copy as well aslayer induction. Therefore, the parameterized cell with good readability andmaintainability concerning the source code, fast operating rate relating toPcell, as well as high execution efficiency has been designed and employed.On the other hand, for the development of CDF parameters, multipleoperating functions for CDF parameters are realized through the definitionof callback in the paper. As a result, a simple and effective relationship isestablished among the CDF parameters, thereby solving the problem thatCDF parameter input might go beyond the measurement range of process and spice models. During the verification of PDK development, comparedwith the traditional verification methods of building Pcell test patterns bymanual work, Pcell verification method from the test pattern has beenintroduced in the paper. The method is presented by the implementation ofautomation realized through script, thereby increasing the quantity of thetest patterns, and adding more representativeness and accuracy to the Pcell’sverification result.Besides, in order to closely integrate PDK with IC design, the designconcept of using assembly language to build an automation design platformfor PDK has been put forward in chapter4. Moreover, the IC designauxiliary function and the design of automation platform through theemployment of SKILL language and Perl language have been introduced.Furthermore, the design methods, along with the main design ideas adoptedin the automation design realized through the program has been presented inthe paper. In addition, the key issues found in the automation design forPDK have been discussed. In between, the paper has conducted detailedanalysis of design tools, including Virtuoso, CIW (Command InterpreterWindow) etc. as well as CDF parameters of PDK. Based on SKILLlanguage, functions such as drawing of Guard ring, simplification of LSWas well as display of simulation format and updating of PDK parametershave been realized in the paper. These functions has not only reduced theplenty of repetitive work in the design procedure, but also effectively solvedthe problem that CDF parameters cannot be transmitted correctly in thereplacement of PDK versions. At the same time, aimed at tediousinstallation as well as the invocation of traditional PDK, the paper haspresented the platform design for PDK through the use of Perl language. Asa result, automation installation and invocation for PDK have been realized.Besides, the integration of deign auxiliary function with PDK has beencompleted effectively, thereby building the automation design platform forPDK.
