Geographic information visualization are widely used in the real world andthe virtual world. The various types of digital and non-digital information aredisplayed on a map by converting themselves into model elements or points,lines, surfaces and so on. Information can be presented in good visual effectswhich are easily understood by human brain and quickly processed for furtheranalysis. Radio network optimization is a job of researching, analyzing andoptimizing the operating data collected through a variety of ways. The datacollected has a geographical distribution property. The introduction ofgeographic information visualization helps the existing radio networkoptimization tools achieve the timeliness and intuition.In this paper, geographic information visualization and radio networkoptimization have been analyzed in depth to find the cross points. Geographicinformation visualization techniques in other areas of engineering technologyhas been applied for the needs of radio network optimization. A generaldevelopment pattern of how to combine the two areas has been designed.Then, four applications for meeting the demands of radio networkoptimization have been accomplished and used in real scenarios. Theapplications play an important role in enriching the optimization strategy,improving work efficiency and reducing the cost of manpower and materialresources.
