As an intelligent storage system for spatial decision support system, the datawarehouse is gradually applied to the Geoscience field. The Online AnalyticalProcessing technology, the analysis tools for data warehouses, has developed quickly.However, data in data warehouse is not once done and forever, with the increase ofdata, the storage nodes of data warehouse, whether it is a distributed data warehouseor a centralized data warehouse, can feel a great pressure. The data warehousemaintenance has also become increasingly complex.With the above background, based on the principles of geographic informationsystems, distributed database theory and technology, grid theory and technology, thisarticle introduced the design method of spatial data warehouse and the correspondingOLAP (On-line Analytical Processing)in grid enviornment. What’s more, with themarine function zoning data sets in Fujian Province as an example, and with thegrography grid enviornment named GeoKS-GRID built by the project team, wedesign and implement a data warehouse and the OLAP service for the remains ofprotected areas in the coastal area of Fujian Province. The main work andachievements of reasearch and development in this thesis is follows:Firstly, analyzed the requirement and background of spatial data warehouse andspatial analysis. The development status of data warehouse and OLAP, as well as thefeatures of grid are set forth at the beginning, and then, the background ofconstructing a spatial data warehouse in grid and the requirement of users for OLAP isnail down.Secondly, probed into the basic theory and supporting technology of spatial datawarehouse. We discussed the theory and process of data warehouse and OLAP first,and then analyzed the support for data warehouse from the grid. With the theoryabove, construed the methods for building a grid data warehouse as well as thecorresponding OLAP service.Thirdly, with the data set of marine functional zoning in Fujian Province, in theconstructed grid enviornment and the geography knowledge testbed, we carried out the designning and implementing of the data warehouse and the OLAP service. Basedon the characteristics of the data set, we designed the data cube, and packaged thesedata and then registed them to be grid data service. All of these steps are described indetail.Finally, in the constructed grid envirnment and the grography knowledge testbed,we carried out the grid packaging and application practices of OLAP service. With theabove mentioned data warehouse, we design the cooresponding OLAP service,descired the steps of grid OLAP service, and shows the processes and the resluts of it.At the end of this paper, we discussed the maintenance and mangement techniques ofgrid data warehouse, and make a brief evaluation of the system.
