H Banking Group is one of the largest bank and financial institution in the world. Its business spreads all over Europe, America, Asia Pacific, Africa and Middle East in more than70countries and regions. Banking information system is the foundation of banking business. The banking system is closely connected to the business with great numbers of capitals and trades. Even a minor error in the systemmay result in a large number of losses. Therefore, the quality of the banking system is always the major concern during the development on the system.In recent years, with the rapid growth of the business in Asia Pacific especially in China mainland, more and larger projects are assigned to Guangzhou project teams.However, existing software development process within team is not suitable for such big projects. More incidents are raised by customers after project released to productionsystem. This results in the decline in customer satisfaction and group reputation, andalso the increase in the cost on issue fixes and production system maintenance. It isa valuable study on the way to improve the existing development process in order toimprove the quality of project deliveries and reduce production incidents.This study is targeted on the C system in H bank. It summarizes the problems during the development on the system and raises a proposal on the way to improve the quality, by analyzing collected defect data using ODC and DRM techniques and with reference to theories on software quality management and defect management. It strengthens the quality control in areas of requirement management, design management, coding management, testing management and configuration management, to insure the quality of the project deliveries. It is proved that the new proposal will improve the quality, and reduce the cost and risk on defect fixes and also the cost on production system maintenance, with the defects to be detected and fixed much more earlier, whenanalyze on the defect data and compare with previous projects.Most of the projects on C system development are system enhancements. Therefore, the collected defect data is a great reference for further analysis on the quality ofproject development on C system. The practice of improving the quality of project deliveries by analyzing defect data using DRM and ODC techniques is also a good example for quality improvement.
