Along with the growth of software industry, the software is becoming more and more complex, and becoming bigger and bigger,besides this, the customers are asking for more reliable, more security and less time consuming software.More and more software companies are searching ways to meet these needs, then, a lot of ways are invented, which includes CMMI, to improve the quality of the software and the efficiency of the software developing process.Software defect management is becoming more important, because it help to arrange the test process, evalue the quality and the progress.Orthogonal Defect Classification (ODC) is a kind of defect analysis method invented by IBM, which integrates the Defect Root Cause Analysis method and the Defect Statistical Model. By analyzing defect information, ODC classifies the defects by several orthogonal defect attributes. We may get the software process information by analyzing these attributes' distribution and growth rate. In this paper, we will discuss the details of these 8 attributes, and give the use of these attributes. then, we search for the relations of these attributes and build a Bayesian Networks for ODC to provide a useful guidance for both the developers and the testers.Then, we give the design of a defect manage system, which apply the ODC in the system. Then we apply these technology and knowledge we discussed above in an actual software, with the help of the defect mangagement system and ODC we get an effective work.Finally, I show the experience in the developing, and make a plan of future works.
