S Company is the largest independent manufacturer of magnetic recording heads for harddisk drives, its products sale to all over the world. The major customer including Seagate,Toshiba, Hitachi, Western Digital and other famous storage products manufacturers.S companysupply more than70%OEM market share in read write head industrial. In order to reduce thetesting cost, the company began to study similar suspension(Holder&i_HS suspension) likeHGA suspension since2004, for the recycle of suspension, this action made high contribution forcost reudction. As the hard disk storage density and data rate continues to improve, the head ofprecision moving become more and more important. How to improve the testing machine’s PESlevel and improve the testing accuracy, it have great significance to reduce the cost and improvethe company’s competitiveness.This paper choose PES’ NRRO as the object of the research. Then, the application of DSFFmethod to design the module of PES improvement,make sure the module reached six sigmaquality level in the beginning stage. First of all, introduce the S company’s productions and theanalysis the read write head precision moving status. Then, put forward the key technology ofDFSS-how to transfer cusomer’s request (VOC) to function paramater based on QFD,Base onQFD,TRIZ,DOE to finsh PES improvement system the functional designed, conceptual designed,parts designed and parameters optimization. During the conceptual design, we use the TRIZ tofix two conflicts, use the time separation method to fix the Pzt system and AE system conflict;use the Contradiction matrix to fix the high RPM and the slider moverment accurate conflictissue. And finally use the DOE and got the key parameters’s tolerance.Studies indicated: Apply the DSC system, add Stabilizer system and the Spoiler system itcan improve PES accuraccy.And the PES gain will have good contribution for the sliderperformance tester stability and reliability.
