Design And Implementation Of Book Management Information System

With the number of library books in storage increased, the types of books, theform of carrying information and the amount of information, and the demand ofpeople for reading books are rich and varied which making the library management tobe expanded. Facing with such a huge amount of information, still using thetraditional manual approach to manage that will lead to the confusion on the librarymanagement, too much waste on the human and material resources, and the rapidityincrease of related costing. Therefore, it is the urgent matter to formulate a reasonable,effective, standard and practical library management system, carry out centralizedmanagement for the collection of books and reference materials.The purpose of this paper is for the library management system design,development and makes it networking and digitalization. Then open book resourcemanagement service platform will be established which could store the libraryinformation that based on the pictures, text, audio and video. Also it could monitorsand manages the library management activities, just like retrieval and borrowing, andmakes them electronically and networking.Based on the B/S structure mode, the development technology of this systemincludes three open-source Web framework technologies, Struts, Spring and iBatis.After the analysis of those three integration technologies, we propose the high-qualityJZEE application framework--SSI combined framework to the network-based librarymanagement services which is on the principle of high cohesion and low coupling.This framework has the characters of flexibility, transparency, scalability and highavailability. From the view point of programming, some common problems in Webprogram were improved. In the SSI framework, Struts is the mainly responsible forthe presentation layer, the display of complete page, response to user requests andother functions. Spring is mainly responsible for business logic layer, completion ofthe application business logic, transaction processing and other function. iBatis ismainly responsible for data persistence layer and complete the interactive functionwith data layer.This system has plenty of function which includes the online search for theinformation of text, audio and video book; self-help borrowing in library; personal information management and so on. It also provide the fast and efficient librarymanagement services to meet the need of library staff, general staff and borrower.
