The survey results are usually showed by Columnar Section and Sectional Drawing with necessary word description, but in order to describe the stratum condition of the study area intuitively, sectional drawings must be used with the section lines.3D stratum modeling is an effective method for describing the distributing of3D stratum. The method can reconstruct the distributing of3D stratum by simulation mode and apply to any professional:it can help to accomplish scientific decision and optimization of planning, design and construction etc.3D stratum modeling and its visualization have gained comprehensive attention and have been used abroadly as a hot technology in Geotechnical Engineering. Although commercial3D stratum modeling software have already turn up in the market, they have a high require on data pre-processing or have a high price.This paper introduces a method for3D stratum modeling which bases on spatial interpolating algorithm and displacement mapping. This method uses elevation data of formation interface which gets form investigation drills,and save the interpolation result which gets from elevation data through the interpolating algorithm as gray images, converting elevation date to gray data. Then use the3D drawing software to create a single model of stratum element model and reduce the face and ground to true elevation data from gray data using displacement mapping technology. Create all models in the work area and3D stratum model is created.This method has following advantages comparing other modeling methods:(1)The stratum modeling process do not rely on single software, but using functions of different software around central task of3D stratum modeling. It bases on different software’advantages of data processing to accomplish3D stratum modeling using the data as a medium.(2)Need not to master the whole functions of date processing and professional modeling software, which can largely reduce the study work. Decomposition of Data processing process is beneficial to the realization of individual functions and effect,which reveal considerable adaptability of the method.(3)The model can realize effects of excavation, incision and dynamic display. The process of modeling is easy and practical for people from different areas.
