On the base of present situation of three-dimensional geoscience modeling software develop and coal mine's need, a method of three-dimensional visualization modeling of stratum containing fault with coal seam floor contour and a little bore information is put forward in this paper., Three-dimensional stratum visualization software system is developed on OpenGL graph platform.Firstly, Digital Elevation Model of coal seam floor is built in this paper in order to realize 3D stratum visualization modeling. A mixed triangulate network method is put forward. The units of regular network which are destroyed by the intersection lines of fault and coal construct a region. Outside the region triangulate regular network is for continuous stratum. In the region triangulate irregular network is built. Moreover, Interpolation methods of Digital Elevation Model are studied and moving curved surface fitting interpolation is improved for the region containing fault.Secondly, three-dimensional stratum modeling based on tri-prism volume elements is studied. Data structure and incising of tri-prism model are described in this paper. With bore information, every stratum thickness information is acquired by interpolation. On the base of Digital Elevation Model of coal seam floor and every stratum thickness information, the triangulate network and the tri-prism volume elements of every stratum are constructed. Three-dimensional continuous stratum display is realized on OpenGL graph platform.Finally, this paper presents a simple and practical method of 3D fault modeling. Fault intersecting lines on coal seam roof and other strata are acquired by the projection of fault intersecting lines on coal seam floor. Outside the fault region, the triangular nets are constructed and vertically joined to form tri-prism volume elements. According to fault intersecting lines acquired, tri-prism volume elements are constructed for the hanging wall and footwall hanging wall respectively in the fault region. Three-dimensional continuous stratum model wich is merged with 3D fault model can represent the whole stratum.
